The Berendsen UK (DB) Retirement Benefits Scheme (the Scheme) provides qualifying members with an income in retirement in the form of a monthly pension or a tax-free cash sum and a reduced pension. Certain benefits are also provided to members’ dependants in the event of a member’s death before or after retirement.
All benefits are provided in line with the Scheme’s governing Trust Deed and Rules and any relevant legislation.
The Trustees’ ultimate objective, which underlies their investment approach, is to provide benefits for the Scheme’s members and beneficiaries as and when they fall due in line with the Scheme’s governing Trust Deed and Rules. The Trustees have an active investment strategy which is agreed after taking advice from the Scheme’s investment advisers, Barnett Waddingham LLP, and is implemented by various selected investment managers.
The Scheme’s Statement of Investment Principles (SIP) and Implementation Statement sets out the principles which govern the Trustees’ decisions regarding the investment of the Scheme’s assets and how the Scheme meets the relevant legislative requirements.
